Many of the outsourced employees would like to retire from their physically demanding labor.\u00a0 But for many years they, unlike AU\u2019s directly employed workers, had no pension benefit payment set aside for them \u2013 in some case for as much as 19 years from 1981 to 2001.\u00a0 As a result there\u2019s little \u2013 very little \u2013 money in their pension fund on which to retire.\u00a0 And of course, Social Security benefits are minimal since much of their work was at close to minimum wage.\u00a0 AU should chip in to help, for example,\u00a0Leila Williams\u2013\u00a0who has worked here for 51 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor Mary Gray<br>Department of Math and Statistics<br>College of Arts and Sciences<br>Office: 202-885-3171<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><\/h1>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A devoted cadre cleans AU and feeds its students, faculty and staff.
